Washington native Dale Chihuly has been a formidable figure in the art world since the 1970s. His art and process have long been considered controversial. His latest works include the 20-foot tall blue glass sculpture on stage at the 2004 MTV Music Awards, the Crystal Tree of Light at the Clinton Presidential Center and the “Fioro di Como,” his largest glass sculpture to date at the Bellagio in Las Vegas.
